User Roles

Publisher

This role is designed for the person who oversees the editorial activity of the journal or publisher, but who does not make decisions about what to publish. The Publisher maintains journal data and editor roles, oversees papers under processing and can intervene in the editorial process where necessary.

Publishers can:

·        Add, remove, and modify editorial board data (including publisher/editor roles).

·        Add, remove, and modify journals.

·        Add, remove, and modify Special Issues.

·        Generate and download journal reports.

·        View all submissions.

·        Handle author proofreading and final publication.

·       Has full access to each stage of production and publication.

Journal Editor

Journal Editor’s role is designed for the users who are involved in processing the manuscripts submitted to the journals assigned to them. They can carry out the editorial work themselves, or assign a Handling Editor to take the manuscript through the editorial process.

Journal Editors can:

  • Review all submissions to their journals.

  • Accept and reject submissions.

  • Assign a Handling Editor for each of the submitted manuscripts.

  • Proceed to peer review immediately after submission.

  • Invite, remove and remind reviewers.

  • Ask authors for revisions.

  • Reset the manuscript status (e.g., pending editorial decision to under review).

  • Make final decisions after peer review.

  • Invite and modify Editorial Board Members.

  • Submit editorial decisions and send manuscripts to production.

Handling Editor

Handling Editors are tasked with processing specific manuscripts that have been assigned to them by the responsible Journal Editor.

  • Handling Editors have access to the following functions:

  • See all submissions assigned to them.

  • Invite and modify Academic Editors for their manuscripts.

  • Invite, remove, and remind reviewers for their manuscripts.

  • Invite and remind Authors to revise their manuscript.

  • Send manuscripts to production.

Editorial Board Members

Editorial Board Members are added by Publishers. Their tasks involve making manuscript decisions (accepting, rejecting, request author revisions, or request additional review) as well as overseeing their assigned journals and adding comments or notes where necessary.
