The Managing Editor Manuscript transfer is an application feature available to publishers running two or more journals on JAMS and it can be enabled in the Application Features menu.

Publishers, journal editors and superusers can apply for a journal transfer if the manuscript manuscript’s scope is more relevant to a different journal .

The manuscript transfer request triggers a notification to the author, who can approve or reject the transfer.

If rejected, the transfer doesn’t occur but the manuscript submission is rejected. then the one it was originally submitted to. In the manuscript view page, there is an icon which enables this transfer.

Upon clicking on it, a new page will open allowing the editor to select different journal. Once journal is selected, editor can click Invite for Transfer button.

Next page will prompt editor to select an email template and send it to authors. This email holds a link through which authors can confirm whether they agree with the transfer.

If the transfer is accepted by the author, the manuscript gets moved over to the proper journal and continues through the submission workflow.

If rejected, the transfer doesn’t occur but the manuscript submission is rejected.
